Pros and Cons of Taking Your Pet on Your Yellowstone Vacation

Everyone loves vacation time. Whether you’re flying to the other side of the world, or just driving down the road, it can be a relaxing getaway for the whole family. Great planning is essential in order to have a fun vacation. No one likes to get where they are going and find that they forgot the phone chargers, bathing suits or other important vacation items.

These days, most families take even their small children along and this can present some unique problems, like making sure you have everything the kids need to be happy and well. Many families also take along a pet as well. This works best if you’re driving, especially if you have an RV. This gives you additional space for pet food, the doggie bed or cat toys and all the stuff that goes along with having a pet.

Pros of Bringing the Family Pet

Perhaps the biggest advantage to taking your pet along on vacation is the fact that you won’t have to hire a pet sitter. Another pro is that your kids won’t have to be away from their pets during vacation time. Often, the pets and kids can get together even on a rainy day and have a good time. Many times, dogs can even serve as an extra pair of eyes to keep watch on the kids.

Cons

Pets need to stop often and use the restroom. They take a bit of extra care and time to make sure they don’t get car sick. You’ll also have to bring along some baggies to pick up after them. Most RV parks and recreational areas are very strict about visitors picking up after their pets. Having your pet along is about like having a child to care for. They do take extra time and attention. Some Yellowstone lodging will not allow pets as well.

Families who drive to Yellowstone in their RV can count on finding plenty of room at Yellowstone Holiday and pets are welcomed. Though our season only extends from May 15 through September 30, that’s still plenty of time to see all the sights at breathtaking Yellowstone National Park. Since this is the busiest time of the year, be sure to call ahead for accommodations as soon as possible to make sure you have a comfy place to stay.
